Robert Franklin Rice

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Franklin Rice, age 87, will be held at 1 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Bro. James Keaton officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 11 am – 1 pm before the service.

Mr. Rice passed away on March 5, 2025, in Jackson, TN. He was born on September 30, 1937, in Maury City, TN to the late Leon Rice and Laverne Griffin Rice. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Rice; and brother-in-law, Bobby Treese.

Mr. Rice started his career in law enforcement as a police officer for the City of Jackson, then as detective and retiring as Caption of the Criminal Investigation Division. He also served several years in the Tennessee National Guard. After retiring from the City of Jackson Police Department, Mr. Rice worked as a detective for the State of Tennessee Public Defenders Office where he again retired.

Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Mary Bryan; son, Chris Rice (Teresa); stepsons, Jim Bryan (Kelli), David Bryan; daughters, Sandy Myers, Jackie LaFont; stepdaughters, Jennifer Stephenson (Patrick), Diane Harris, Debbie Stanfill; brother, Tommy Rice (Judy); sister, Molly Treese; grandchildren, Jennifer Rice, Natalie Eslami (Shahram), Heather Minor, Alex Minor, Brock Myers, Jason Stanfill, Cheré Todd (Lane), Jacob Bryan, Kelsey Vinson (Josh), McCall Emison (Chris); great grandchildren, Jessica Mask (Randell), Julian Stephenson (Kylee), Jett Stephenson (Daisy), Zach Cole, Henley McClain, Madison Bolton, Keaton Majors, Skyler Bryan, Tristan Bryan, Maddy Foged (Tyler), Jadon Stanfill (Jessica), Rosemary Vinson; great-great grandchildren, Joshua Bolton, Dean Stanfill, Ozzy Franklin Stanfill, Loralie Stephenson, Porter McConaughy, Avery Stephenson, Carleigh Chambers, Tate Love, Jaxon Mask, and Ava Mask.
