The Homecoming Celebration for Patricia Ann Roach Briley, age 88, will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church in Bemis, with Brother Danny Geary and Brother Jerry Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Briley passed away on January 5, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare, after a brief illness.
Patricia Ann Roach was born on November 13, 1936, and grew up in Madison County. She graduated from Pinson High School, where she played on the basketball team, was a cheerleader, and was crowned Miss Pinson High School. During high school, she dated the only love of her life, Jack Dempsey Briley, Sr., whom she married after graduation and was blessed with 66 years of marriage, until his death in 2021. Mrs. Briley graduated from West Tennessee Business College and took classes at Jackson State Community College, where her favorite subject was Business Law. She had an extraordinary work ethic, loving every job she ever had: Tigrett Toy Factory, Area Vocational-Technical Training School, Agriculture Extension Service (20 years), travelling the world helping people who lost almost everything to disasters with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA, 20 years), West Tennessee Healthcare/JMCG Hospital (retiring in 2014), and serving as a guide to tourists at The Carnegie, sharing her knowledge and love of Jackson Madison County, where she worked until the covid shutdown in 2020.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; mother, Nauline Myracle, step-father, James Myracle, and father, Cleo Jack Roach; little sister and best friend, Rosalie Stewart; brothers, Johnny Roach, Sr. and Jackie Roach. Mrs. Briley is survived by her daughter, Teressa McDonald (Kelly, Sr.); her son, Jack Dempsey Briley, Jr. (Patricia); brother, Chris Myracle; sister, Janet Myracle; sister-in-law, Nancy Knolton; "special sister", Sandra McDaniel; grandchildren, Dr. Oliver McDonald, Terri Dodd (Michael), Kelly McDonald, Jr. (Jessica), Jack McDonald (Tawly); great grandchildren, Briley, Bailey, Blakely, Blayne Dodd, Tinsley, McKenzie, Presley McDonald, Kelly McDonald, Ill, and Ezra McDonald; numerous friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 am -1 pm, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church.
