Norma Nell Lewelling

Mrs. Norma Nell Lewelling, 88, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2022, after a long illness. She was born in Bemis, TN on October 9, 1933, to the late John B. (J.B.) and Ora Estelle Ing. Norma was a lifelong resident of the Jackson area, and for many years was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church. Norma was a retired employee of Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Jackson, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester W. Lewelling. Norma is survived by her son, Mike Jenkins and wife Gwyn of Oakland, TN, grand children Steve and wife Carrie of O’fallon, Illinois, Bryan and wife Kristina of Cordova, TN, great grandchildren Nolan, Conner, Hannah, and Lilly, niece Carla Williams and husband Jerry, nephews Joe, Kelly and wife Lisa, and children, stepdaughters Patricia Alexander and husband Mike of Henderson, TN, Sally J. Darby and husband Ken of Jackson, TN; stepsons, James E. Lewelling, Thomas L. Lewelling and wife Kathy all of Jackson, TN and Larry E. Lewelling of Pleasant View, TN; five step grandchildren, Justin Alexander, Megan and Kenny Darby, Taylor and Morgan Lewelling; and three step great grandchildren Brandon, Kelsey, and Bryson Darby. Norma is remembered by all who knew her as a kind and loving person who always put the needs of others before herself. She especially enjoyed being a home maker and loved to cook for others, frequently baking a variety of delicious deserts, meals, and other treats for her family, friends, and acquaintances. There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Tennessee Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/tn) for their continued work in Alzheimer's care, support, and accelerating research for a cure.
