Merab (Meb) Elizabeth Banks Reedy of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, age 80, passed away May 1, 2018, at Magnolia Hospital. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Roger Clyde Reedy, and her son, Oren Clyde Reedy (Jenna) of Smithville, Tennessee, who filled her life with sunshine and joy. She is also survived by two sisters, Frances Banks Amis and Mitzi Banks Still, both of Batesville, Mississippi, and a sister-in-law, Doris Reedy Carter of Idaho. She was the adored aunt of one niece and five nephews who lovingly called her Mebbie. Meb was born September 8, 1937, in Grenada, Mississippi, to the late Francis Oren Banks and Mildred Noble Banks. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 4, 2018, at the First Christian Church, Selmer, Tennessee with Bro. Greg Worthey and Bro. Jim Atkins officiating. The interment service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, Mississippi with Bro. Tim Sanderson and Bro. Gerald Smith officiating. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home of Jackson, Tennessee, is in charge of the service. Meb graduated from Batesville High School in Batesville, Mississippi, in 1955. She received a degree in speech therapy from the University of Mississippi and completed a graduate degree in Education from the University of Memphis. She worked in Georgia before moving to Memphis where she was a speech therapist for 15 years. It was there that she met and married Roger on September 30, 1967. After Oren was born in 1970, they moved to Selmer, Tennessee. Along with being a wife and mother, she taught kindergarten and special education until she retired. Meb was a member of First Christian Church in Selmer, where she served as church secretary for several years. She was very involved in her community, belonging to the Book Club, The Rose Society, Music Club, and Garden Club. She was a volunteer at Jesus Cares, the library, and adult education where she taught reading to adults. For twenty years she drove faithfully to Jackson, Tennessee, to attend Explorers Bible Study. One of her most meaningful experiences was attending and working on the Walk to Emmaus. Meb will always be remembered for her delightful personality and numerous anecdotes of her life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations in Mebs memory to First Christian Church of Selmer, Tennessee, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018, 5:30 pm 7:30 pm and Friday, May 4, 2018, 12:00 pm 2:00 pm at First Christian Church in Selmer.
