Mary Roberts

Mary Roberts 9/21/1915 4/22/2020 Mrs. Mary Roberts, age 104, passed away on April 22, 2020, at Northbrooke Healthcare Center in Jackson, TN where she had been a resident for almost 5 years. She was born on September 21, 1915 to Cameron Edmund and Mattie Lee Futrell Day in Jackson, TN. She spent much of her early childhood in North Platte, NE and she returned to Jackson with her mother and brother when her father passed away in 1930. Mary met and married Noel Roberts in 1939 and their marriage continued until his death in 1980. Mary worked for Fox Restaurant for 20 years, and for Mrs. Sullivans Pie shop for 28 years until her retirement in 1979. Her family had been long-time residents and business owners in Jackson and she generously shared her photographs of early Jackson with historians, businesses, and college students writing about Jackson. She was a former member of Parkview Baptist Church and later East Union Baptist Church until her age and health prohibited her form attending services. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Cameron Leon Day of Silver Springs, MD, her husband Noel Roberts and an infant granddaughter. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, their son Jim Roberts and wife Shirley, their daughter Mary Kay Roberts Buck and her husband Dwayne. Three Granddaughters, Beth Roberts Beard and husband Scott, Kayce Roberts Beam and husband Adam, and Teresa Buck Kee and husband Jason. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren, Isaac Beard, Elise Beard, Fisher Beam, Fletcher Beam, Evan Kee, Abby Kee, and Grant Kee. There will be a private family graveside service on Monday, April 27, 2020, at 12 PM at Hollywood Cemetery. The family request that memorial gifts be sent to East Union Baptist Church, 2244 Beech Bluff Rd., Jackson, TN 38301 or to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
