Martha Frances Alpha

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Frances Alpha, age 97, will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Brent Lay officiating. Interment will follow the Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Alpha passed away July 14, 2018, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born February 18, 1921, in Crockett County, Tennessee to the late William and Beatrice Henderson Todd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Alpha; son, Donnie Alpha; daughter, July Alpha. She was the oldest member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church. She worked 43 years for GM&O and ICG Railroad and a former member of Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks. She was a graduate of West Tennessee Business College and loved to travel, enjoyed reading, all kinds of music especially the big bands of the 40s. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Poplar Heights Baptist Church, 1980 Hollywood Drive, Jackson, Tennessee 38305. Visitation for Mrs. Alpha will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018, 2-4 pm at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the service will be Dale Catlett, Hollis Matlock, Don Lay, James Raines, John Raines and David Dougan.
