Margaret Barfield Rucker

Margaret Barfield Rucker, 79, died peacefully January 31, 2022, in Jackson, TN. Born daughter of the late John and Irene Grimes Barfield. Margaret was a lifelong resident of TN. She graduated Jackson High School, Class of 1960, and achieved her master’s degree in Education from the University of TN at Knoxville. Margaret was a teacher for many years, beginning at Newport Grammar School in East TN and then teaching elementary school at USJ and Episcopal Day School in Jackson, TN. She was also a dedicated Reference Librarian for over 20 years at the Jackson Madison County Library. Margaret was an avid lover of literature, bird watching, wordsmithing, and gardening. She most enjoyed spending great times with family and friends. Ms. Rucker is survived by her daughter Lenora Rucker (Jimmy Scott), and son Bo Rucker, both of Jackson, granddaughter Caitlin Scott, sister Irene Dycus, nephews John Patton Dycus and Andrew Dycus along with their lovely families in Memphis, beloved Summer Campers and Cousins in Maine, countless classmates, students, friends and family that will always remember her goodness. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 10, 2022, 2 pm at the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with a visitation starting 12 pm prior to the service.
