James Neal Brasfield

James Neal Brasfield, age 85, departed this life Wednesday night September 26, 2018, surrounded by family. A lover of music, he was sung to sleep by the old gospel songs. Many family members had been by his bedside during the last days of his illness. He was born September 14, 1933, the son of James Harlon and Idell Graves Brasfield. In November 1955 he married Imogene Conder Brasfield his wife of 63 years. He started his working career in Jackson as a Kroger bag boy and continued the next 40 years with Kroger retiring in 1990 as the Manager of the South Jackson Store. He was a Navy Veteran and loved to tell stories of his time as a Navy Corpman. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Brasfield; parents, James and Idell Brasfield; brother, Ed Brasfield; sister, Alice Faye Owens. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Brasfield; daughter, Sharon Grisham (Daniel); daughter-in-law, Penny Brasfield; brother, Bob Brasfield (Brenda); eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Brasfield will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 5-8 pm and Saturday, September 29, 2018, 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 29, 2018, in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Grisham officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimers Association.
