Memorial services for James “Jamie” Farrar Maxwell, age 65, will be held at 5 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at East Union Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Wade officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 3:30 – 5 pm before the service.
Jamie was the first born to Gipsy and Anne Maxwell and a brother to Ricky and David Maxwell. He married Labina Hawks on July 31, 1982. His first baby girl Catherine Camille was born on November 4, 1990, and a second baby girl Lucy Claire born on June 30, 1994.
Jamie is survived by his wife, Labina Hawks Maxwell; daughters, Cate Maxwell (Jay Gregory), Lucy Essary (Sam); mother, Anne Maxwell; brothers, Ricky Maxwell, David Maxwell (Jennifer); nieces and nephews, Brandon Maxwell, Michael Fuller (Brittany), Brittany Maxwell, Benajmin Maxwell (Sydney), Nate Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell, Aaron Farrar (Kelly), Alicia Farrar; aunts and uncles, Danita Willey, Jimmie Lynn Phillips, John Farrar (Alice); a multitude of Maxwell, Farrar, Jones and Hawks cousins. He was preceded in death by father, Gipsy Maxwell; sister-in-law, Sijbrigje Maxwell; niece, Camille Phillips.
Jamie played baseball and softball most of his life, playing baseball from age 6-16 and softball 17-50. He loved to coach all of his fast pitch girls. He built custom cabinets at Fish Cabinet Shop for Freddie Fish and Roy Hornsby for 34 years and with D&S Cabinets for Brian Coley for 7 years. He was a member at East Union Baptist Church for 47 years where he served as head of security for many years.
He loved SEC football especially his University of Alabama, Roll Tide. He also loved Henry County High School football Patriots Big Red Country. He had a love of western movies and any war movie about WW2. He was a master griller and would grill rain, shine, sleet or snow. Most of all he loved his wife and girls with his whole heart.
He had a love of all people. Anyone that came in contact with Jamie knew that he cared about them. It might mean a 45-minute conversation about whatever topic you were talking on but by the end of it you knew he was your friend.
