Hettie Wood Moss

Mrs. Hettie Wood Moss went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2018. She and her twin brother Bennie Wood were born on April 22, 1924 in Milan, TN to Rolan and Bessie Wood. After schooling in Lavinia and Milan, she worked at the Milan Arsenal during WWII. Little did she know, but her future husband was serving his country in Europe. She later moved to Jackson and became a licensed cosmetologist. During this time, she met Perry L. Moss and they were married Dec. 25, 1946 for 62 1/2 years. They lived in the Westover community and were active members of Westover Baptist Church. They enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing their homegrown vegetables. They were loving parents to daughter Hettie Camille Key (David) and son John Wayne Moss (Debra) who survive. Mrs. Moss' greatest talent and love was the art of quilting. She enjoyed making her quilts for the family. Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four siblings: Ann Lawrence, Bernice Wood, Robert Wood, and Rev. Bennie Wood. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Perry of Jackson, three granddaughters: Bethany Paige Key and Jennifer Megan Key, both of Jackson, Ashley Moss Smith (Scott) and two great-grandsons Aiden Perry Smith, Brennan David Smith of Austin, TX. Visitation with the family will be Wed. March 14, 2018 from 6-8 at Lawrence Sorenson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:00 am Thursday at First Baptist Church, with funeral to follow at 11:00.
