Doris Mai Tomlinson Blankenship

Doris Mai Tomlinson Blankenship, 92, born June 14, 1926, died December 1, 2018. She was born and grew up around Lynnville, TN, graduated from Campbellsville High School, and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ola Mai Owen and Henry Clarence Tomlinson; six siblings, Clarence Owen, Mary, Joseph, and Alvin, all infants; Henry Dalton Tomlinson, her twin, and Lola Kate Barlar; and her husband of 50 years, Ray Granvel Blankenship. She is survived by her daughter, Gail B. Fedak (Drew) and grandson, James Ray Meredith. Doris called Milan, Jackson, and Murfreesboro, TN, Louisville, KY, and Florence, AL, home at various times in her life. Her career included being a homemaker and working varied positions at the Milan Arsenal, Sears, West Jackson Baptist Church, and Altrusa International of Jackson, TN. Her family wishes to especially thank caregivers, Becky McMillin, Jamie Blackwell, Charlene Lanier, Rosalyn Ayers, Teresa Hendrix, and Molly Mason; the ECM Wound Center; Dr. Eric Santiago, Dr. Felix Morris, and the Southern Care Hospice staff for their extraordinary care and support in her final years. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 1:00 pm, in Browns Cemetery, Jackson, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Arthritis Foundation.
