Debra Lee Yelverton

Funeral Services for Debra Lee Yelverton, age 74, will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with her sister Lassie Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30-10:30 before the service.

Mrs. Yelverton passed away on June 10, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving husband and children after a short battle with cancer. She was born on October 5, 1949, in Birmingham, AL to the late Wilburn and Vivian Doris Keel.

Mrs. Yelverton is survived by her husband of 53 years Calvin M. Yelverton; children, Vivian Denette Yelverton of Jackson, Calvin M. Yelverton Jr. and Rebecca of Mercer, Jason Haynie and Kathy of Toone; grandchildren, Cole, Kyle, Michael, Emerald, Ava, Justin, Kayla; great grandchildren, Kinsley Jean, Meredith; siblings, Ricky and Ann Keel, Barbara and Grady Maners(deceased), Douglas and Kimba Keel, Stephen(deceased) and Tanna Keel, Lassie and Buddy Kiser, Ynette Keel(deceased); many cousins, nieces, nephews.

She graduated Northside High School in 1966 and graduated Nursing School in 1969. She married Calvin Yelverton February 27, 1971. After a career in nursing she spent over a decade as a finance officer in a vehicle dealership then went to work at Apria Healthcare as an officer administrator from where she retired in 2019.

Over her lifetime she was involved and held offices in many different civic groups, clubs and guilds such as Peace by Peace Guild, Women's Business League, Eastern Star and the Kwana's just to name a few. She and Calvin were also cottage parents at Youth Town for many years.

She loved quilting, gardening, fishing, cooking and camping. She was of the Christian faith.

Pallbearers will be Cole Meeks, Kyle Yelverton, Levi Harvey, Lane Roe, Justin Nichols, Josh Vinson and honorary pallbearer will be Michael Hanie.
