Carolyn Tharp Greer Bond, 92, of Bond's Crossing, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Carolyn, known to friends and family as “Coe,” was born on May 17, 1930, in Oakfield, Tennessee. After graduating from North Side High School in 1948, she studied chemistry at Memphis State College. Coe married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Thomas Hunter Bond, Jr., in 1950 and together they raised five children on the family's farm in Madison County.

Coe embraced life’s adventures, including her time stationed with Hunter on the U.S. army base in Wurzburg, Germany in the 1950s, but also found serenity in the quiet pleasures of country life. Coe was quick with a crossword puzzle and a skilled bridge player, counting many dear friends in her bridge circle. She hosted countless family gatherings, often preparing her famous stew and homemade yeast rolls.

Coe was admired for her strength of character; frugal with her own needs, but incredibly generous towards others. Her steadfast nature, quiet determination, and strong work ethic will continue to serve as an inspiration to those who knew her.

Coe was predeceased by her parents, Lee Tharp and Maude Odle Greer; husband, Dr. Thomas Hunter Bond, Jr.; sister, Carey Helen Lyon; brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Lyon, Jr., James "Jimmy" Bond, Burruss Nichols, Dr. Louis Carter, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Sullivan Lawrence Davis. She is survived by her five children, Carolyn Greer Barker (Steve), Thomas Hunter Bond, III, James Paul Bond (Susan), Ida Elizabeth "Libba" Bond (Vicki Howard), and John Tharp Bond; six grandchildren, Tom, Jessica Leigh, Margaret, Melissa, Sarah, and Annie; eight great-grandchildren, Hunter, Anna Ruth, Henry, Stephen, Bond, Elizabeth, Preston, and Hudson; sisters, Mary Alice Greer Nichols and Anne Greer Carter; and sister-in-law, Emma Lee Bond.
