Bobby Lee Sykes

Mr. Bobby Lee Sykes, age 90, passed away on July 15, 2021, after celebrating his 90th birthday on July 4. He was father of Mary Anne Little (Gil), Eric Sykes (Laura) both of Jackson, and Jay Sykes (Geina) of Lebanon. Grandfather of Brian Kiddy (Amber) of Austin, TX, and Addison Sykes of Jackson. Great grandfather of Will Kiddy of Maurertown, VA and Victoria Kiddy of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Emily Sykes, and sister, Ann Sykes Martin. Bobby graduated in 1949 from Northside High School. He played on the Indians first football team. After graduation he attended Union University. Bobby retired from GM&O Railroad in 1992 and farmed from his early years until September of 2020. His mission in life was giving - BBQ shoulders on Christmas Eve, baskets of tomatoes from his garden, and time to help family and friends. His giving included being a 23 plus gallon blood donor and his final gift, tissue donation through Tennessee Donor Services. Bobby was an “accumulator” of old gas pumps and tractors, and he enjoyed riding the county roads in his old Dodge pickup truck searching for new finds. It is difficult to condense such a large, long life into so few words, but he thoroughly enjoyed life and lived it his way. The Family request that memorials be directed to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. Services for Mr. Sykes will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:30 am until service time.
