Geraldyne "Jerry" Irons Johnson

Geraldyne Irons Johnson, known to many as “Jerry” passed away June 26, 2023, after a brief illness, at age 90.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 5, 1932 in Greenville, Texas, daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel Irons, and sister of the late Mary Helen Wall, all of Greenville. She married Ralph Johnson in 1959 and relocated to his home in Jackson, Tennessee. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Mrs. Johnson was a former teacher and homemaker. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education from East Texas State University (Now Texas A&M at Commerce) in 1953; and a Master’s of Science Degree in Education from North Texas State University in 1954. She taught several years in Dallas public schools before her marriage. Mrs. Johnson was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and had a desire that everyone knows the gospel of Jesus. She had a special heart for missions.

She leaves her son, Mark Johnson (Pamela) of Trenton, Tennessee; a daughter, Julie Johnson of Jackson; two grandchildren, Victoria Reeves (Benjamin) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Ross Johnson of Alamo; two great grandchildren, Kate Reeves and Caroline Reeves, both of Birmingham; a sister-in-law, Jane Hutson of De Leon Springs, Florida; and many nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Brown’s Church Cemetery in Jackson with Pastor Scott Gilbert officiating. A visitation with the family will be held from 10am-11am at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home.
